Buy a bond
Open a coffer from Browse and the buy card sits in its sidebar, showing the validator’s Min amount and Interest rate. The card shows only while the coffer is Active, open to new bonds, not in default, and its mark is green or amber. Browse does not list a coffer with a red mark. If you open one by its link, or one whose mark is grey, its page shows no buy card.
Set the amount and the duration
Section titled “Set the amount and the duration”Type the amount or step it with the arrows, or press Max, which fills in the most you can spend, the lower of your wallet balance after gas and what the coffer can still issue for. Pick the duration with the presets, 1W, 1M, 3M, 6M and 1Y, seven days to a year, a preset is enabled only when it fits inside the validator’s duration range, or set the days directly.
Read the estimate
Section titled “Read the estimate”The estimate card answers one question, what you will receive at unlock.
| Row | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Deposit | the ETH you pay now, the principal |
| Reward | the interest you earn over the term, already net of the protocol fee |
| Unlock Date | the calendar date your bond matures |
| Protocol Fee | the fee percentage fixed at this moment, taken from the interest |
The headline amount and Reward are net figures, there is nothing further to subtract. When the fee rate cannot be read the card shows a placeholder rather than a number that would overstate your reward.
Review and confirm
Section titled “Review and confirm”Press Buy Bond and the Review Bond modal opens, “Review your bond terms and acknowledge the risks before buying.” Under Please confirm before buying sit the three checkboxes from Before you buy, all three must be ticked. The line under them reads How to verify these: with a link to that page, which opens in a new tab. Confirm, sign the transaction in your wallet, and the button walks through its states while the purchase lands.
What Syncing means
Section titled “What Syncing means”After the chain confirms, the app briefly shows a syncing state while it catches up with the new bond, usually a few seconds. Your bond then appears in your portfolio with its NFT card, see Bond lifecycle and statuses.
